Anyone who is contemplating an estate sale knows just how enormous a task it is. The psychological, emotional and physical aspects can be overwhelming. But I have to say, that after having decided to sell and downsize after 27 happy years in my home, it was the best decision I’ve ever made, especially after I hired Keepers of the Past as my estate sale company.

From our first meeting, I felt completely confident in their background and experience before hiring them. Their contract was completely transparent and easy to understand. Upon signing our contact, they explained in great detail what I could expect from them – and then they lived up to it all. After many years of creating memories and attachments to items in a home it’s not easy to “let go,” however, Susan and Jim Heeks met my every concern with empathy and respect. They were professional, respectful, conscientious, organized and absolutely delightful to work with.

More importantly, they far exceeded my expectations when we encountered some unusual circumstances regarding the sale of our home. These included having to push the date in order to conduct a sale in time for our close date, working around scheduled electrical work being done in the home, and graciously accommodating our new buyers requests – all this without a word of complaint. They just made it happen! They even scrambled at the last minute to personally trailer items scheduled to be donated to charity because of an impending winter storm would have caused us to have to postpone our closing.

The sale itself went better than I could have imagined. Susan and Jim took great pains to keep an accurate inventory, priced items fairly, and displayed them in an attractive and organized manner. They met with our neighbors, posted signs, and managed traffic flow into and out of our home. The house was maintained in my absence and was left spit spot clean upon their departure.

Upon completion of the sale, they immediately called to let me know how everything went. Then within days after the sale (in spite of the Thanksgiving weekend), they provided an accurate accounting and disbursement of the proceeds.

I unequivocally recommend them to help you make your Estate Sale a successful, stress-free experience. Call them today. You’ll be glad you did.

The very thought of selling our home of 40 years was overwhelming until Jim and Sue said, ” No problem!” Trusting their experienced guidance, we relaxed and completed our work for the sale of the house and then stepped back and let them set up shop for the estate sale. Their internet advertisement showing pictures of the arrangement of items encouraged us that not only was this sale was good for us, it was also providing happiness to others. After the sale, Jim and Sue provided a very detailed inventory of items sold and an accounting of expenditures and proceeds. We are very happy with the results of their work for us! Their honesty, sensitivity to our needs, and understanding of the marketplace make them valued professionals.

Over the years, I must admit that I have been to many garage sales and estate sales. I was especially drawn to the sales being conducted by “Keepers of the Past”, owned and run by Jim and Susan. I liked what I saw and how they interacted with their customers! A few years ago, I had recommended them to a senior that needed her basement cleaned out after years and years of accumulation and stuff! I was so impressed by their thoroughness, neatness and total broom swept cleaning of the entire basement. I knew that I would use their services again!

This summer, Jim and Susan conducted an estate sale for her, which involved cleaning, sorting, setting up and staging the sale, right down to the last removal of any items that couldn’t find a good home. I was so pleased from start to finish. We met at the home, weighed out the options and made a decision to have them do the entire job form beginning to end. They are very honest people and I felt very good about the direction we needed to take!

They were right at the house when they said they would be there, to meet me. They brought in all the boxes, shelves, cleaning supplies, lamps to prepare for the sale. Every item was washed prior to the sale, attractively displayed, and priced to sell. Keep in mind, there was STUFF! Jim and Susan did all the work themselves; it was not “hired” out to others. They put in many many hours!

The sale was conducted in a very friendly and professional manner. After the sale, I had the option to decide where any items that did not sell, would go. They packed up the boxes, arranged for delivery and found good homes. They were very cooperative, worked with my time schedule and once again, did just what they said they would do. Calls and emails were returned in a very timely manner. I could go on and on praising their services and their level of caring. I have recommended them to several other people and will continue to do so. They are fair, kind and most of all, very respectful individuals who take pride in all that they do.

Jim and Susan, thank you for helping us through these tough times! ☺

Jim and Susan Heeks of Keepers of the Past worked with the College on a donor’s estate sale. The items in the sale were organized and arranged neatly for easy viewing. We were very happy with our experience with Keepers of the Past and would highly recommend them.

I just wanted to thank you for making such a painful process so much easier on our family! You and your wife are very kind people and the work that you have done at my parents’ house is amazing! We can’t thank you enough for the way you came in and did such an amazing job with the clean out.

We truly appreciate what you have done. I know this isn’t the type of thing that anyone wants to do but you and Susan made it that much easier. Again thank you for all the work you put into this and for doing such a great job!

I would highly recommend you to anyone who needs this type of thing done and will definitely put your name out there when I hear of anyone that needs this type of help.

Thank you again!

After my mom passed, we were faced with the daunting task of cleaning out her house. She had accumulated 95 years of memories including antiques, a huge record collection, and an extensive camera collection. We had no idea of where to start until Keepers of the Past was referred to us. Jim and Susan met with us, explained their process, and were open to any ideas that would make the sale acceptable to our family.
They worked diligently for over two weeks before the sale cleaning, sorting, staging, researching, and advertising. The 3 day sale went very well and we were very satisfied with the result. They would have totally disposed of the unsold items, but we chose to hold onto them. Those items were boxed and neatly left for us.
Jim and Susan are very personable, hard-working, compassionate, and professional. They understand that disposing of a loved one’s possessions is stressful and heartbreaking. They were respectful to us and her belongings throughout the sale.
I would highly recommend their service. My heartfelt thanks to you both.

“Our experience with Jim and Susan from Keepers Of The Past was 100% positive. This was not a typical estate sale – it was comprised almost entirely of antiques and collectibles, but because of the size of the collection, our options were limited by not having enough space at our home to hold the sale. Jim and Susan came up with the creative idea of holding it off-site at a space they knew about through their many contacts.

They worked tremendously hard to transport, catalog, research, price and display this large collection and were communicating with us throughout the process. We couldn’t believe the amount of work they put in to make things just right.

The sale was a big success, with the return exceeding our expectations. Jim and Susan treated the collection and our family with empathy and respect. We highly recommend them!”
