Estate Sales generally disperse 80-90% of the household contents. Our staff will recommend a one to three day sale based on the quantity and quality of the contents. This option usually yields the best return for the seller. Depending on the item(s), we sometimes recommend belongings to be sold at another venue if we believe it to be to your advantage. On-site organizing and maintenance, posting with local newspapers, street signage in the estates’ neighborhood and online advertising is included. At your request, following the completion of the sale, the few items remaining may be packed and dispersed to the charity of your choice. You will receive a charitable receipt for tax purposes.
Church, Salvation Army or Volunteers Of America
Charities will pick-up the contents of the household and provide you a tax donation receipt. Most charities have become very selective; with lists of items they will not accept. General household items are required to be packed prior to donation.
Cherry Picking allows dealers to come and purchase only what they want. You would be responsible to disperse the remaining contents. This works well when estates have many high end antiques or high quality items but not as well with general household contents.
The outright purchase of your estate provides you with a home that is empty and ready to be placed on the market. General maintenance is performed to include, but not limited to vacuuming, dusting, floor cleaning, and bath. Purchase price is based on content appraisal, removal and maintenance fees associated with the property.
In the case of an Auction, everything is removed and sent to a well known auction house. Auctioneer fees vary – usually 20-30% of sale plus a 10% buyers’ premium.
Conducting a Sale Yourself
Conducting the sale yourself yields the best return but requires the most amount of labor on your part. Our experience and reputation always pays for itself. Hire us at an hourly rate to help you run your sale. Hiring the professionals by the hour works well for those who want to have a sale themselves but need a professional to guide them in the process.
